These are AWESOME. The feel really solid. The rubberized grip feels good in your hands. The glass is great. It is very clear and crisp. They have great eye relief - several different levels. The case, strap and eye-cup cover are very nice. This is the 2nd pair of Nikon Binoculars that I have bought and I am as happy with these as I am my 1st pair. For the price I don’t think you can find a better pair.

We wanted a second pair of binoculars that would be lightweight and compact for traveling to areas to view wildlife in medium to close conditions, sometimes with low light. These proved to fit the bill very well. The image is clear and bright and most important for wildlife viewing, the focus is easy and quick to adjust on the fly. Frankly, it’s hard to imagine doing much better for the price.

Customer Review: Fantastic midprice binocular
I started looking at the Monarch when I was originally shopping for a quality binocular to assist me when doing bird photography. I bought a Leica Ultravid 10×42 at that time. I later bought the 8×42 Monarch to use whale canoeing and for knocking around, and they are very impressive for the price.
The image quality is excellent edge to edge (not exceptional like the far more expensive models, but truely excellent). They are very light weight and well made. They are easy to adjust (I need slight diopter adjustment for my eyes and can quickly reset them when sharing them with other people). The eye cups are easy to adjust and also easy to remove and clean (like when they get full of peanut skins and shells at a baseball game).
I normally keep these in my car and they come in very handy.

After ridding myself of the cheapy binoculars that I had for years, I decided to dive in and get some “good” ones. Well, I was pleasantly surprised that these went way beyond good. These binoculars are fabulous. Everybody should have a pair like these!!
